Five Minute Fridays: Still...

July 29, 2011 by Dolly Lee | Leave a Comment

On Fridays, Lisa-Jo of The Gypsy Mama provides a prompt for five minutes of UNEDITED writing.  It is a relatively painless way for me to practice overcoming my perfectionism.  This week's prompt is Still...

START.

Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

Why must I be still God?

Because you can't hear me when you are busy running around pretending to be god.  You can't sense my love when you are busy trying to prove that you are loveable.  You can't hear me whisper that my love for you is not dependent on your performance.

Oh... I see.  Please help me to not be afraid of being still.  I have practiced being still the past several years so I know it is a good work to learn to be still.  Stop whirling around.  Where do I think I need to be?

You need to be here with me.  Let me love you into wholeness.  Your wholeness is what will allow you to love well.

Deep breath.  In and out.  Holy Spirit, help me to be still.  Quiet my mind, body and soul.  I need you.
