It's Five Minute Fridays, where we write for fun, or for free therapy for five minutes. Then we post our unedited work, and we visit the person, who linked up before us, and some friends.
Our hostess is the encouraging Lisa-Jo, and she selected the word, "Look," as the guest of honor for this week's writing party.
START.
When I open my eyes
and really look around me
I can see you
with your smile,
slight twinkle in your eyes
when I ask you a question.
When I look with the eyes of my
heart, then I can see
behind your question to
the real need behind it,
and not get offended,
and instead offer you grace
and understanding,
and when I look for God's fingerprints
in this world, and I
stop, and really look,
I am amazed at the beauty I
can find in an orange/pink/sherbert
swirl of a sunset when
I walk with your little hand [our girl]
held in mine,
When I move toward
your [hubby] side of the bed,
and spoon you close to me,
and feel your warm body next
to mine, then I am
content, and
grateful.
And then there is the
harder looking I must do
when I read, or see
suffering, and ask
what can I do?
What are You, O God,
calling me to do?
Sometimes it is to give,
say a prayer, or hold
out my hand, and listen,
but first I have to risk
and take a look, and just
go with what You say.
I confess, sometimes, I
don't want to look, because then
I will be held
accountable. But
Love always
looks.
STOP.
P.S. I added [] explanation so it is clear when I'm talking about our girl vs. my hubby...Smiles.
What do you see, when you stop and look?
Wishing you a weekend full of moments to stop, look, and see His fingerprints of love in your life, and the world around you.
Please join the party at The Gypsy Mama by either linking up and/or reading other entries.
