It's Five Minute Fridays again. A flash mob of writers racing against the clock for five minutes of free, crazy writing. Our fearless leader is Lisa-Jo, and the inspiration for this week's run is the word, "RACE."
Start.
When the alarm clock goes off, I slide out of bed, and begin the race against the clock. Lunch needs to be made, breakfast started sometimes by me, sometimes my husband, all with the goal of getting out the door in time.
Life can be a race from one thing to another.
Or it can be a race to slow down, sit still, and be quiet before God.
I used to race to finish tasks because I like the satisfaction of checking things off my to-do list. But I am also learning that is not always the whole point.
Maybe, my relationship with God is the whole point, and my relationship with my family and friends. I am learning to ask myself, "Why am I racing?"
"What's the goal?" I'm not trying to win an Olympic gold medal in efficiency. When it is all said and done, what is the point of it all?
What is going to last? Medals tarnish, and bodies age, but only God is eternal. Only my relationship with Him is eternal.
Only He is worth racing toward...ultimately.
Stop.
Yikes...I feel like I was rambling, and all over the place tonight. Grace, please.
It is always a grace gift to hear from you. Thank you.
Praying you can slow and savor a weekend full of time to rest, love, and be loved.
Sorry to my #FMFParty friends: I was doing the night time routine, and our girl wanted to talk. How could I say no?
Please join the party at The Gypsy Mama by either linking up and/or reading other entries.
