Fear vs. Love

Fear is the big smoky thing

that keeps puffing itself back up

because it knows it has no real power

unless you believe it does

like the Wizard of Oz

hiding behind a curtain of lies.

While Love is the still small whisper

that grows and grows and grows

like a tiny acorn

into a giant oak tree

reaching far into the heavens

yet stooping low to give you shade.

This poem came (in its basic form) when I took time to stop, and be with God.

"The fear of man brings a snare,

But he [or she] who trusts in the LORD will be exalted." - Proverbs 29:25 NASB

or

"The fear of human opinion disables;

But trusting in God protects you from that." - Proverbs 29:25 MSG

These words hit home:

"If each of My children would seek to please Me above all else, fear of others' judgments would vanish, as would attempts to impress others.

Focus your attention on the path just ahead of you and on the One who never leaves your side." -Sarah Young, Jesus Calling (Sept. 25)

Dear God,

Please enable me to trust You enough to want to please You first. You are true LOVE. You never leave me.

Oh, for the courage to choose Your love as I dream instead of fear.

Thank you for forgiving me, and loving me even when I fail. It fills me with gratitude and a deeper love for you.

By Your grace,

Amen.

What helps you choose love over fear? It is always a gift to hear from you.
